The Second Age of Shonghania or the Age of the Issa was heralded by the advent of its immortal namesakes and the volcanic destruction of the human refuge of Laal which sent the children of Ameram to the four winds to become the four Great Peoples of Shonghania. The Issa also hunted many of the most dangerous monsters to extinction during this time in all but the Forest Kingdoms in the west whose people barred the Issa from hunting in their lands.

The intermarriage of human and Issa brought forth hybrid offspring known as Xandi with powers neither parent possessed. The Xandi’s numbers grew and there was a war with the Issa for dominance of the continent with the Issa proving victorious. But after some time, for reasons unknown, the Issa decided to leave the realm of humans and their departure marked the end of the Second Age.
